dr4b made a guide to her friends list, which I would link to if I'd been able to find her post about it. I finally got around to doing something similar: Who are these people on Monica's friends list?

If there's something about your blurb that you don't like, you should tell me.

I think that's a way cool idea. One of these days I might get around to doing the same thing. Right now I'm having a hard enough time coordinating an email to my three bridesmaids to introduce them to each other...

By the way, not that I don't like my blurb... I love it... but I don't actually chant Torah...Jeanne does. I'm taking a haftorah trope class right now, and I'll probably take a Torah Trope class once I get out of Haftorah Hell. Okay, it's not hell, it's fun, I'm just having a heck of a time singing right now since I lost my voice last week!

Oh, oops. I'll fix that. I thought you both chanted Torah (though for some reason the random whimsy that led to this list only caused me to say that about one of you).

Not a problem. If you say I chant Torah, well, by golly, it gives me incentive to learn!

So should I put it back the way it was, then? :-)

No. That would be dishonest. :( But I'm plannning to learn anyway. I just really want to have Haftorah down first so that I can make sure I don't mix them up. I could have taken a class this month for Torah Trope, but decided I wasn't solid enough in Haftorah yet.

That's an awesome list. I'm amused by the comment that Ralph is studly.

Perhaps my blurb should say something positive rather than negative. I'll ponder it for a bit. I like the list!

Actually, I meant that Ralph is a study *programmer* -- studly modifying programmer, not Ralph. As he and I are both married, I will refrain from commenting on other types of studliness. :-)

I knew that's what you meant. I just was amused by what you said and how you said it, not what meanings I could derive from it. 8^)

What a good idea! Maybe one day I'll do this if it's still applicable.

These are interesting, because you get a glimpse at what other people think your distinctive features are.

I'm so depressed at WhizBang. They only have four colors of whiteboard marker. :(

Oh, that sounds rough. Fortunately, the cure is within your grasp: go to Office Depot or some such place and get your own personal set of markers! You'll be glad you did. And you know, it's not as weird as it sounds; I took a personal chair and a personal monitor stand to work because the MAYA default didn't fit my needs. The right tools make a big difference; the money you spend is noise by comparison.

Perhaps I shall do that. They already think I'm weird because I keep my weekly schedule written up on my whiteboard--entirely in Japanese. More couldn't hurt. :)

Two other comments:
1) I'm glad there's nothing about SCA for me. I was definitely an idiot (or freshman, same thing) during the year we had in common in Debatable Consort (whether I still am remains to be seen), and would prefer that people not remember it. :)

2) There's a grammar_mavins group?! I must add this to my watch list!

SCA: for the record, I did not think you were an idiot (though I think I knew that you were a freshman). I felt like I didn't get to know you very well and that this was a poor reflection on me, but I had no negative impressions of *you*. Besides, good musicians are always nice to have around. :-)

I decided to add a link to the page in my profile to save me and anyone else the trouble of finding the entry. that was pretty silly of me, I suppose.

Hmm, I was going to add a link to my friends page, but the profile is a better idea. After all, how often do people other than me view my friends page?

You might be surprised. I regularly look at other people's friends pages in order to spy on people that I don't want to put on my friends list. :)

So how come no one told me that the style customizations I made to my friends page, which looked perfectly reasonable in Netscape 4.7, were utterly wonky in Netscape 6 and IE 5? :-)

(Fixed now that I'm using Netscape 6 and am thus aware of the problem...)

I think we've met in person. On the Mark performed at a filkcon I was at (yeah, I know, doesn't really narrow it down, I *think* it was Conterpoint 3, the one where Clam Chowder also performed) and I think we managed to chat at some point. The above icon is the color of my hair (in fact, it's a small square of hair from a photo of me), so that should help narrow it down. I also think I had my Renaissance tenor recorder with me that weekend. In any case, it was the weekend I bought an On the Mark album. :)

Aha! I think we have met, then. (Renaissance recorders at cons at memorable.) Cons that On the Mark and Clam Chowder have both been at... Conterpoint 3, Darkover, and the Worldcon in Baltimore (Bucky). That last was cool -- we got to open for Chowder. On the Mark also went to Arisia once [1], but Chowder wasn't there. We might have bumped into each other at that one, though.

[1] Lovely con, too long a drive to do often, almost generated a filk along the lines of Tom Paxton's "Thank You Republic Airlines (for breaking the neck of my guitar)" aimed at a rental-car company. (2 flats, 1 dead battery, lots of waiting.)

It was probably Conterpoint 3, then; I wouldn't have bought the CD at Darkover, and I still haven't been to a WorldCon.

Will you be at Lunacon or Contata? Those are the only out-of-state cons I see getting to in the foreseeable future, because I'll be able to stay with my parents and commute.

Sorry, won't be at either of those. Our next con is Galacticon (in Georgia), where we'll be guests of honor (cool!). After that is not determined yet, but probably nothing else this spring/summer due to some logistics issues within the group. (One of our members actually lives about 4 hours away from the rest of us at the moment. Temporary teaching gig.)

*nod* Hopefully I'll get to see you at some point in the next year's worth of cons.
