We have this bid for air conditioning, and Dani was the one who talked to them. I had some questions, and when I called they said "how about if we come out with the foreman and have him answer them?". So we did that this morning.

It appears that the sales guy (or whatever he is -- the advance scout who actually produced the bid) specified something that's not doable. The foreman kept saying things like "no, this won't fit here" and "how am I supposed to get a duct there?" and so on. When they were done, they apologized and withdrew the bid.

I asked about unconventional approaches, tried to find other places where they could put things, and so on, but they didn't seem to be used to thinking creatively. Of course it could be that nothing I suggested could possibly work; I have no experience. But it sounded like they -- particularly the foreman -- just weren't into thinking that way.

So I guess the next step is to ask Johan if he has any unconventional ideas that might actually work, and if so we can go looking for someone to implement them. If that fails, does anyone have any recommendations for very quiet window AC units? Part of the problem is that the (old, clunky) unit we currently have in the bedroom is too loud for Dani to sleep with, though it doesn't bother me.
