One piece of information I've been wondering about is this: the newspapers report the totals of Israeli and Palestinian deaths during the current violence, but the deaths they run stories on are only a small fraction of these (particularly of Palestinians). Has anyone kept a record of the circumstances of all or many of these killings? The date and place and manner, the affiliation of the killer (if known), the affiliation, if any, of the dead (assessed by multiple parties, ideally). Without this I don't feel I have an understanding of the scope of the violence.
This would be good information to have. I don't know if anyone has been tracking it. (There are people who have been keeping running totals, but that alone doesn't tell us what we need to know.)
You'd need to include the circumstances, and particularly the state of the person when he died -- was he waving a gun, sitting there peacefully, being deliberately used as a human shield, something else? I'd really like to know how many of the dead on each side were innocent bystanders rather than (at the time) legitimate targets.
As an aside, note that the press includes the suicide bombers in death totals. While not incorrect, it is a bit on the misleading side -- and there have been enough of these to skew the numbers.
