Don't you think it's about time that authors of web sites get the clue that web pages are not magazine pages? Specifically, you do not have authority over the rendering. Stop trying; you just get in the way of your would-be users. Sheesh.
I am thoroughly sick of: hard-coded font sizes ("gee, let's assume that everyone's vision is good"); colors that do not provide appropriate contrast unless the monitor brightness is cranked all the way up; graphics and layouts that assume maximum window size; artistes who value "prettiness" over function. Let my browser handle the rendering, and don't hamper that by hard-coding things that I'm allowed to set.

Date: 2002-05-13 09:49 am (UTC)I may soon be complaining about this, since at my resolution 12pt (and even 10pt) roman fonts are perfectly readable, but Japanese fonts become half-illegible.
