I just finished watching the final episode of Earth: Final Conflict. The series started out with great promise; the first year (and into the second) set up intriguing characters and political/social conflicts. J. Michael Straczynsky had recently (at the time) shown that a multi-year story can be told in syndicated SF, and I thought this would be the next success in that area, despite the grab for name recognition by splattering "Roddenberry" all over it.
E:FC wasn't bad, and some of it was very very good, but this final season fizzled quite a bit. The wrap-up felt rushed and sloppy, and in the last two episodes I got very tired of the word "destiny". The ending was too hasty and tidy; it wasn't real. Valuable screen time was wasted on fluff that could have been used to develop the end-game story more realistically. JMS spoiled me, I guess.
That said, the final episode wasn't as trite as I feared it would be a few weeks ago. Small favors, I guess
