Jun. 14th, 2002 01:03 pmI had no idea that some of my friends were such sports fans. If I were interested in the World Cup (that's, um, soccer, right?), I could track the details solely through LJ. But I'm not a fan, so I get to sleep at night instead of watching games. :-)
My father has a similar, though diurnal, involvement with football. When I was growing up, weekend activities were sometimes scheduled around games -- which sent an inconsistent message to my sister and me, who wanted to watch certain TV shows and were told "meals take priority; if you miss a show too bad". Even after VCRs had been invented and my parents got one, though, my father has always insisted that it's just not the same to watch a taped game. I would think that avoiding spoilers would be the only real problem. And hey, the VCR could provide additional sources of excitement: "Eek, they've gone into overtime! Did I record for long enough?" :-)

actually, you met her at the Purim Seudah
Oh yeah, I remember Ian and Alida. They seem like nice people. Quiet, but that might have been relative and not absolute. :-) (Harold's Purim is not for the shy and timid, I gather. :-) )
