On the bright side, the new TV, DVD player, and both VCRs seem to be working just fine. It took me a little while to figure out what controls had to be set how in order to actually view things on the VCRs; this setup is much more complicated than its predecessor. (The previous TV had only one input, so you just left the TV on channel 3 and drove everything via a VCR.)
I'm looking forward to being able to move all of this into the new TV room. In theory, the absent contractor returns tomorrow, so maybe he'll be done with the painting and staining and plastering in that room (err, not in that order, one hopes) in another few days.
