Pennsic: day 1
We went up today to unload the house and set up a bunch of stuff. It was a hot, sweaty day and it was hard to stay hydrated, but we made a lot of progress. Eight of the ten pavillions/tents are up (the other two are coming later), and we set up some of the kitchen stuff. We also helped Tofi and Genevieve set up their large pavillion. The dining flies aren't up, but they aren't hard. And we need to dig a sump hole and set up the shower, which is hard work.
We are really squished in this year. I'm not sure they divided up the block correctly. But we've got stuff up and it'll work; it will just be crowded.
The jack that's built into the trailer hitch broke yesterday while they were moving it. (I am a little fuzzy on what exactly happened.) Johan said he will come up with an idea of how to fix this, but didn't know today what I should do about it. I'm glad we have him in the camp; in addition to being strong and generally handy, he's good at solving random problems like this.
Johan also killed the hornets and removed their nests, and evicted some (live) birds and a nest. Last year the house didn't attract critters...
Tomorrow I will do assorted pre-Pennsic chores, and then go to choir practice in the evening. Then on Tuesday I'm headed back up to Pennsic to stay.
If anyone reading this wants a Pennsic postcard, send your address to me by Monday night. (Ayesha, I already have yours.) My email address is in my user profile.
