weekend uncertainty
Dec. 12th, 2002 10:59 pmA few months ago,
But lately we've been waffling. It sounds like there won't be all that much to the Jewish theme, beyond costumes for the ball in the evening (and I didn't get my act together to come up with something clever). We will both be limited in what we can eat at the feast, as it will be a mix of meat and dairy (separate courses). It's December in the snow belt, and snow is predicted for this weekend. I'm not trying to diss the event; if it were local I would certainly go. But it's in Buffalo.
But still, it would be fun to hang out at the event, there are some friends we don't get to see often (hi
But Gail has been sick for the last couple weeks, and we would want to come back Saturday night (which would be late) because she needs Sunday to cook for the choir dinner on Monday, and I wouldn't be contributing anything to the driving, and we've been having second thoughts.
Gail has been trying to reach our intended hosts for the event, and has been unable to do so. This isn't a good sign. And I realized tonight that my postcard (confirming a reservation) hasn't come back, and the reservations person doesn't have a published phone number. And we don't want to risk being stuck in Buffalo (they do things like close interstates up there). And maybe at some level we're just making excuses. And we finally realized that we can hang out with each other and schmooze without driving 8 hours. And besides, Ralph and Lori are having what will surely be a fun party Saturday night, and we would miss it if we go to the event.
So we decided to decide mid-day tomorrow. If our hosts call Gail back tonight to confirm details, we'll go. If we can't get in touch with them, we'll bail on the event.
