We do not have a significant middle-eastern population here, and I haven't noticed any changes -- but, given the demographics, I wouldn't. Can anyone else corroborate or contest this observation?
Update 3/27/03: According to this post, his family apparently left voluntarily. It's not known why, but they seem to have gone to Amsterdam.

Date: 2003-03-25 04:15 pm (UTC)If one travels up the alphabet on Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn, as I do every work day, one will enounter, between around Avenue C and Avenue I, one of New York's busiest and largest Muslim areas - mostly Pakistani, but there are other groups as well.
I have not noticed a drop in visibility or population along that route or in the buses I ride.
