Last night's D&D game was very good. We had good role-playing, we learned something more about the world that's important, and the encounters were well-balanced. The cliff-hanger we ended on, though, prompted the "ack! how can we deal with that?!" reaction, which probably means the GM has done a good job. We'll find out next time. :-)

Tomorrow is an SCA event, the Academy (a day of classes). There are some interesting classes on the schedule. We have crashers coming tonight, people we haven't seen in a while. Should be fun.

CompUSA hasn't called about my computer yet, so today I called them. They're working on it. Can they say anything more specific? No, but they'll have the tech call this afternoon. That was at 10am; I think "afternoon" has safely come and gone by now, and still no call. I hope it's ready for pickup on Sunday.

It must be rough to be a thirsty cat (or dog, probably). In watching Eric drink water earlier, I realized that cats don't have "slurp", only "lap". And the tongue just isn't that big, y'know? As someone who drinks around a gallon of water a day, often more, I cringe in sympathy.

I went to one Academy in Atlantia, and I hated it. People around here only tend to take classes in subjects that they already know everything about-- well, they THINK they know everything about the subjects. So you sit in these classes and they interrupt the people giving the talks, and start getting into topics that are way outside of the original scope of the class, and I get all frustrated.

OK, my grammar is all over the place, but you get the point.

Bummer. Ours was good, and people were definitely going to classes outside their own areas. I attended classes on medicinal use of herbs (that is, medieval and ranaissance beliefs about same, not modern herbal medicine), northern-European glass, and performing poetry. I had planned to also take the class on puppetry, but the teacher couldn't make it to the event due to last-minute job stuff.

I enjoyed the session too. However, I'm curious to know what you learned about the world, since I hadn't planned it as a particularly expository session. :)

Nothing really major -- just that the current anomolies were "made, not corrupted", so to speak (made from the earth itself, rather than an infection of previously-healthy normal creatures). More confirmation of the "the land itself is sick" theory.
