We went up to Cooper's Lake today to try to set up most of the encampment. It's quite soggy up there (and we're on the high flat lands, not down in the bog). We pushed some tent stakes in with our shoes. That's not a good sign.

But we got all the big stuff set up (except for the dining flies and the shower), and we're slowly unpacking all the kitchen stuff, and when it dries out some we'll pound the stakes in more solidly, and things should be ok. At least the tents that are most susceptible to wind are reasonably protected. The house is particularly good for this. :-)

The house is reasonably level just sitting on the tires, but we're going to jack it up some anyway for extra stability. Besides, the trailer doesn't have innovations like brakes. I understand why the DMV had issues with it.

I'm going up to stay tomorrow, so I won't be around LJ for a couple weeks. If you want me to see something, your best bet is to email me about it.

FYI,

I'll be up on tuesday evening to set up my tent, so I'll collect my woody bits then. If you really need them out of the way, just send them down to Yama Kaminari. I was going to try to come up today, but I was just to beat from yesterday to try to set up today.

Tuesday is not a problem for woody bits. Someone today (don't recall who) thought you weren't coming up until the weekend. Thanks for the info.

Well, I won't be up for good until the weekend, but I always try to come up early to set the tent up and check in before friday night, because I hate sitting in line to check in. Did that one year. Never again. :)

I'd rather pay the extra money and glide past all the cars parked in the field on Friday to get to my camp, sit my butt down into my chair and enjoy myself after a long week.
