LJ and friends' styles

Yesterday's updates to the LJ code base removed the "s2id" argument that you could (previously) add to URLs to get your friends' comment pages to display in the default style. However, they've added a profile option to do what I really wanted anyway: you can now cause your friends' comment pages to display in your style (not an arbitrary one). The new FAQ entry is here.

(Too bad they didn't announce this in the maintenance post; I had to bother the folks in support to find out about this.)

I know there are people on my friends list who will be interested in this, so here you go.

Lovely! While this hasn't been as much of a problem for me as for you, I have to admit that I just plain don't like some peoples' styles. So being able to look at their comment pages in my own style is very convenient.

Thanks for the pointer...

That's actually how I usually read cuts. When you click on a cut, it positions the browser right at the cut, which annoys me -- nine times out of ten, I want to see the context, which means seeing the message from the top.

So I generally click on the "read comments" link if there is one, or "post comments" if there aren't any yet.

I just discovered this option today - I was going to let you know about it but after I was done catching up on my friends list (from the weekend - not August - I gave up on that, especially after finding out that I had to do it individually for each of my friends as it stops after 600 back entries). Gah!
