I'll have you know that, according to the repairman, this was a top-of-the-line GE fridge -- in 1965. He made the compressor happy for now, and we are advised to not spend much money on it. Time to keep an eye out for sales.
(I knew the fridge was old, but I didn't know it was that old!)
