Wow, my previous entry was #1000. I had hoped for something more significant or inspired for that nice round number, but oh well. I wasn't paying enough attention.

I created this journal on August 22, 2001.

In this journal:
I've posted 1000 entries, not including this one.
I've posted 6,006 comments and received 4,792.
I've saved 272 memories. (Memories were a lot more useful before they broke sorting a few months ago.)

My first post was one of those eclectic surveys that circulates by email (and now by LJ).

Two years ago (October 30, 2001) I speculated about paperwork for border crossings in the post-9/11 world.

18 months ago (April 30, 2002) I posted some memories of my first year observing Shavuot (and, in particular, all-night Torah study).

One year ago (October 30, 2002) I reported on a Thai restaurant tht sounded better than it turned out to be.

Six months ago (April 30, 2003) I posted some "short takes", including a link to the funny elephant-on-TV story, deceptive marketing, and some feline bonding.

Three months ago (July 30, 2003) I speculated about how appliances have improved life as we know it.

One month ago (September 30, 2003) I sought pre-Yom-Kippur forgiveness for unknown/unintended offenses.

Yesterday I posted some thoughts on an upcoming Torah portion and why an apparently-strange division into sections might have been made.

A mixed bag, in other words.
