This afternoon at the bunny melt someone postulated that anything goes well with either chocolate or garlic, but never both. Someone mentioned mole' sauce, and I commented that I think I would actually enjoy chocolate-covered garlic. And lookie, Google to the rescue!

I love garlic, and I love chocolate, too. But I'm not sure that chocolate-covered garlic is something I'd be willing to try. :-)

Chocolate covered garlic is okay -- pretty good fresh, less satisfying after a day or two -- but the real magic is garlic buttercreams!! The only problem with those is that eating them makes you more hungry. Once in a blue moon I get my hands on some made by anusara, and they're a precious treat. Mere chocolate-covered cloves of garlic doesn't hold a candle to those garlic buttercreams.

Personal taste opinion here. The garlic buttercreams sound potentially intriguing though.

At the first Great Northeastern War, legend says there was a "best use of Garlic" competition as part of the A&S. Some of the more, er, renowned entries included a garlic & jalapeno mead, and garlic fudge.

I've heard of jalepeno mead (which, err, doesn't call to me), but hadn't heard of it combined with garlic.

Marian Greenleaf made a garlic apple pie for my pelican elevation. (She and I were, at the time, the biggest fans of garlic either of us knew.) It was a little peculiar, but there were no leftovers. :-)

I've made garlic brownies with white-chocolate-garlic frosting which went over quite well at the garlic party.

Hmm. I love chocolate. I love garlic. I think mole sauce is one of the best culinary inventions ever. I happily eat innards and tentacled things. Nonetheless, the chocolate-covered garlic sounds too odd even for me, perhaps because I'm having trouble imagining the taste integration... which means maybe I have to try making it, just to see.

It does sound odd, but I'm game for a little adventure. I think the secret must be to cook the garlic until the innards are good and squishy and then encase that in a hard chocolate shell.

Yeah, that's the only way I can think to get rid of the sulfur compounds (and still leave the result edible).
