Yay! LJ tags are here! What are tags? Subject codes (of your choice) for journal entries. It will soon be much easier for me to find "that post I wrote sometime in the last four years about Shavuot" and the like. The great cataloguing will now commence. :-)

I gather that I would need to switch to the S2 styles to get these nicely displayed in my journal. They are displayed on the full entry pages (the page you get to if you follow a comments link or an lj-cut). I have not invested the time to study S2. If there's a style that works off the shelf that's pretty close to my current one in legibility, I'd consider switching. If I have to tinker much, I probably won't. Is there an easy-to-use catalogue of styles, I wonder?

Edit: Ah, I see. I can add tags with S1, and I get these little links on my entry pages, but I can't actually use them unless I switch to S2. Sigh...

I'm just considering the enormity of the task of adding tags to 2,226 existing entries ... and wondering whether I can hack (or have the patience to wait for) tag support into the LJ client I use (Clive) so that my QotD cron job can post quotes already tagged.

the work-around I use for viewing lj on my cellphone does not grok S2

hmmm. I'll have to see.
