Yom Kippur starts tonight. To all who observe, tzom kal (an easy fast) and g'mar chatima tova (may the final seal be for good).

I created the RSS feed when I found the blog.

My surprise Micha moment wasn't the blog; it was "Micha is a rabbi?". (He wasn't the last time I had extended interactions with him, but it's been several years.)

Yes. He became one a couple of years ago. He was being treated (successfully, bli ayin ha-ra) for lymphoma and couldn't work, so he took an intense course with a local rabbi to get smicha. He did it solely to enhance Aish Das.

I was aware in passing of his fight with lymphoma, but not with how he was occupying the time. He's done a lot of good work with Aish Das; I'm glad he was able to do this to help even more.

Hebrew question: how is that kal spelled? (I've seen it only in transliteration, so far as I know.) If it's with a kaf, I really hope the vowel is a patach -- because the thought of having two kals running around, one with a kametz and one with a kametz katan, makes my head hurt. :-)

It's with a koof (heck, transliteration is a pain; the one with the descender, not the backwards C relative).
