Dani just called to warn me that the roads are really hazardous. Dani is one of the most "optimistic" (but not reckless) drivers I know; if he thinks there's a problem, that's significant.
The big problem is "other drivers" more than the roads.
The roads vary from "damp but safe" to "quite icy". Traffic is moving slowly but steadily -- or, at least, it would be if not for agressive drivers. The problem comes with the people who can't handle traffic moving below the speed limit. So, you have people blocking intersections, cutting people off, and doing other agressive driving stunts. Then, you have the secondary effects like people slamming on brakes because they've been cut off, people waiting through green lights because someone's blocking the road, etc. This seems to push even more people over the edge.

Yup. I should know better by now, but I am still surprised by the number of people who block intersections and don't seem to understand why that's bad.
And it's not just bad weather. Yesterday I saw an ambulance, lights and sirens going, unable to pass through an intersection because one side had an idiot sitting in it and the other had people driving through it, oblivious to the oncoming emergency vehicle.
As usual...
