cellio: (hubble-swirl)
[personal profile] cellio
A few high and low points from 2005 (personal, not national/world):
  • I became a Sh'licha K'hilah (a graduate of the Reform movement's para-rabbinic program). We're still trying to define my role in my congregation (without stepping on anyone's toes).
  • I continued to study privately with my rabbi and he sometimes challenged me more than in the past (this is a good thing).
  • I began leading weekday morning services once a week.
  • My manager gave me an appropriate role (and level of responsibility) in the department and seems to recognize my value.
  • I began to wonder about the long-term viability of my career path.
  • Our small, private company was bought by a mega-company, which has caused some changes.
  • The CEO of said small company died suddenly two months after the acquisition. We all miss him a great deal.
  • A dear friend died unexpectedly, leaving a huge hole in many people's lives. I miss him a lot.
  • A four-year-long D&D game came to an exciting and satisfying conclusion.
  • On the Mark re-formed (in a low-key kind of way) after taking a year off.
  • I returned to studying biblical Hebrew and this time it's working.
  • I had a health scare with one of my cats, who is doing better now.
Looking ahead to the next year:
  • I hope to remain at my company despite the challenges posed by the acquirer.
  • Longer-term, I have decisions to make about career direction.
  • I hope to gain more opportunities within my congregation; I would particularly like to lead worship more.
  • I hope the bond between my rabbi and me continues to strengthen.
  • There are friends I don't see as much as I'd like due to various attacks of life; I hope to see this change this year.
  • I hope to grow spiritually, in torah knowledge, and in Hebrew proficiency.
I am blessed with loving family (starting with my husband), good friends, health, and comfort.
