Potency per puff isn't critical, unless there's a low limit on the number of puffs. If something akin to a cup of coffee or a can of Coke is achievable, that's great. (The other question, of course, is what such a thing would cost.)
Alright...I dropped him an email (no saying whether it's spring break or not, so I might as well let email handle it) to point him to the link. I asked him the feasibility, but didn't ask him the price. He's a prototype maker, not a production-line specialist.
Believe it or not I made caffeine inhalers years ago as a graduate student - tasted terrible, and not nearly so popular as my bourbon and 7 up inhalers! The latter were popular on ski trips since the tasted great, had the desired effect, and were never confiscated by puritan Ski Patrol members! I had a who range available, and best of all, they functioned well as lock deicers - I once had the Dean of the KY SOP come to the lab and ask for one - he claimed for the latter purpose.
With and MDI you're pushing it at 5mg. A DPI might get you to 40mg in one puff.
