a few links

I had not heard of the meme of fabricating large-scale implementations of food until a coworker posted his version of Hostess cupcakes.

[livejournal.com profile] nancylebov posted two anecdotes about music gone wrong. The first is probably true and the second probably isn't, but I found both to be very funny. And as for the first, well, it couldn't happen to a better genre. :-)

Dani sent me a link to a bad citizen in Java-land. Yeah, don't program like that. :-)

Having known (and even dated) a few trombone players in my youth, while the second music story may be apocryphal, it is entirely plausible.

My friends and I in the trombone section had a physics teacher as the assistant band director, and therefore would not have done this. We were pyros, and crazy, but figured out how not to be *stupid* crazy.

(On the other hand, the use of a trombone as a low-velocity air-powered bazooka was demonstrated on *numerous* occasions. Stop up the bell with the projectile, but not too tightly; extend the slide to seventh-and-a-half; put lips up to mouthpiece; aim; blow into mouthpiece while pulling slide quickly back into first.)
