Here are some pictures of assorted sights throughout the camp -- just some random, usually-non-representative, things that caught my eye.

This is the biggest yurt (aka ger, mongolian structure) I have ever seen; it's 30 feet in diameter and does not have center poles:

I've never seen the inside of this tent, so I don't know how they do that:

Another part of the marketplace; the laundry just makes it for me. :-)


Yet another part of the marketplace. Several people sell out of the house, which is fairly large (20x30?) and takes a couple days to assemble.


The first vardo ("gypsy wagon") to show up at Pennsic, about ten years ago I think. It's built on a trailer and the top half slides down for towing. They tow it to Pennsic (and other events), rather than storing it on site.


Another (bigger) vardo. I didn't manage to catch the owner at home, so I don't know anything more about it.


Some people at Pennsic have difficulty getting around, and some of them get creative about their scooters. This is Baroness Megan, formerly of Stonemarche and now living in Drachenwald (Europe):


My group camps on the flat(tish) treeless plains, but there are trees to be had, and streams:

It was lovely meeting you, even briefly.
I recall a vardo at Pennsic 17, down by the swimming hole. They were tucked in the trees, and let me inside to be awed.
It was a real vardo, with iron wheels, a small kitchen. I believe it was mentioned that it once had been the family home.

Off to plan my period tent for next year =)

The elaborate gate is the Shadowclan "Haunted Cathedral". Fabulously beautiful, but I'll never forget seeing them breaking it down into a a large truck labeled "Acme Cathedral Kit"...

Sorry I never got to come say hi this year! I didn't get much farther up than the merchants. I hope it was a good one for you.

I can see my tent in the second photo! The green-topped earth pimple in the upper left there. Sigh. Now I'm homesick.

lovely pics - we hope to be back at some point - our work schedule conflicts with pennsic but we are thinking of taking our 2 weeks off in 2-3 years to come back to it again (next year we are using the time off to build a garage!).

The fairly large house reminds me of this ceremic wares merchant:
