more Pennsic photos (mostly performances)
Aug. 22nd, 2006 09:52 pmFor my non-SCA readers, I promise to get back to the usual mix of religion, navel-gazing, and other commentary on life, the universe, and everything soon. :-)
The Pennsic Choir:

Arianna (director) introducing the choir:

A visit from Wolgemut:

I Genesii: Capitano introduces the troupe:

Columbina reads a love letter she thinks is for her from Arliquino (wrong on both counts):

The letter has made it to Pantelone, definitely not the intended recipient:

The "love triangle", as Columbina finds her intended with Virginio, who himself is very confused by his apparently-fated partner:

I was trying to take these pictures without a flash. I am also new to zoom lenses. I tried some of these with the "night" setting. Even with all of that, they came out fairly dark. I lightened Capitano and left the others alone. Columbina was taken with night/no flash; I think that one worked best of these.
The Debatable Choir's performance was earlier in the week, before I'd learned just how fuzzy zoomed pictures can be. None of the full-choir shots came out; here's one of the quartet that sang one song:

AEthelmearc Court. AEthelmearc has an award called the Jewel, which is given once per reign to someone who best exemplifies what the SCA is all about (non-armigerous, non-polling). Their majesties gave their Jewel to Johan von Traubenberg (who died unexpectedly last fall), to a standing ovation. His family accepted the award:

Their majesties surprised Giulietta, the kingdom herald (who normally organizes all court business) with a writ of summons to receive a pelican, the SCA's highest award for service:
