Wow, that Neiman Marcus story was...awful. I recall that Atlanta store back from when we lived in the area.

I've actually got a Neiman Marcus credit card (which I haven't used in years...and the reason why I got it was a funny story). I think maybe it's time I cut it up and mailed the pieces to Ms. Reeder in Dallas.

To be fair, I haven't done any fact-checking of my own. I found the (obviously-not-neutral) article credible enough to link; whether it's credible enough to complain to N-M is a call you'll have to make yourself.

That said, it sounds like a good way to make a point -- you're not just a potential customer but a (presumed) actual customer, if you have the card.

Re: the last item: Ugh, that's absurd. Summers are absolutely vile here in Atlanta, and it's just plain sadistic to leave animals locked in a car like that. Why didn't the woman just leave her dratted dogs at home?

In Pittsburgh, which is rather farther north than Atlanta, people make a point every summer of stressing how much the insides of cars can heat up even if you leave the windows cracked. It's hard to be a pet owner and not hear that clue. I believe this is also chargable under local animal-cruelty laws -- which, granted, generally involve a slap on the wrist, but at least it's something.

Why didn't she leave the dogs at home? I assume that would have been inconvenient... I mean, we're talking N-M here; it's not like she had to make an unplanned stop at the pharmacy for her medicine and they're closing in 5 minutes and there's really not time to go home first and it's really important to get the medicine, or something like that.
