cellioAdam was created last of all beings on the eve of Shabbat. Why?
The rabbis give several answers. One, lest anyone say God had a
partner in creation. Another: so that if man becomes too proud,
we can remind him that the gnats preceded him. Another: that he
may immediately enjoy Shabbat. (Sanhedrin 38a)
