trip to Israel

Not only am I going to Israel (yay!), but it happens to work out that I'll be in Jerusalem the same night as the local SCA group's next event, and it's a 20-minute walk from my hotel, and the travel itinerary says "evening on your own". Well, that's an easy decision. When the Shire of Ma'ale Giborim formed and the founders invited me to be an honorary member of the group, I never imagined that I'd have the chance to actually show up at something. :-)

(We will have other nights in Jerusalem, so I'm not missing out on my only chance to see the city or anything like that.)

I hope the shire folks will understand that my garb won't be as elaborate (or voluminous) as it would otherwise be. :-) I have something that can pack down pretty small.

The shire there is reportedly doing quite well (despite inherent problems such as their severe geographic isolation from the rest of the SCA). It's so cool to have an SCA group in the Holy Land, don't you think?

The shire does seem to be doing well (judging from the mailing list, which I'm on). It's impressive and a little inspiring when isolated groups can manage to have (and teach) a variety of core activities. We in urban areas have it easy by comparison!
