some Israel pictures

I've posted some of my Israel pictures to Picasa. A draft narrative for non-LJ distribution, and with some photos excerpted, is at: http://www.pobox.com/~cellio/israel-2006.html. The text was largely canibalized from LJ entries; I may refine it before distributing to coworkers, family members, etc.

The framed prayer in Tzfat is the paragraph "modim anachnu lach", the version said by people other than the baal tefillah during repetition of the amidah at shacharit and mincha. I assume it's there partly for the cohanim: there's duchening (birkat cohanim) every morning in Israel, so the cohanim are up at the front, not necessarily with their prayerbooks, so the text is there. Or for other congregants, who may have wandered without their siddur during repetition.

Ah, that makes sense. (We don't do a repetition, therefore don't have a varying text -- we just do the "regular" modim.) I should have remembered to check a traditional siddur; it's not like I don't have any in the house. :-)

I think this (http://picasaweb.google.com/cellio) may be the Picasa URL you meant to post (with all your public galleries).

Am in the process right now of adding Picasa support to Convo, so I'm paying close attention to Picasa URLs at the moment. :-)

I'd love to have a way to get notified of new comments on pictures, ideally without having to add them individually to the list. (The album seems like the right level of granularity there.) Perhaps ironically for a Google service, I couldn't find any information on the site about support they have for that...
