Site performance was mostly fine for the first almost-six years of my journal's existence. Why has it started to suck so badly this month?

Today, the site got slashdotted after slashdot reported on the situation in news. That's what grabbed the performance, along with restoring suspended journals.

Thanks for the information. Still can't post today, it seems; let's see if I can comment.

This is all separate from the general site slowness I've been experiencing for the last month. It's so bad that I've evolved a reading style of new tabs to read comments/cuts. LJ says it's just me. :-(

One of the ealier instances of slowdown was a DDOS attack.

I remember the DDOS attack. I'm seeing uniform slowness, not just that. Unless there's been a DDOS attack in progress for the last month, but I think they would have said something.
