pet-sitting
This is Spud, who stayed at my house for the week. He's a very dog-like cat; he followed me around quite a bit, making it hard to get pictures of him. He eventually got comfortable enough to be willing to be feet -- sometimes even a couple tens of feet! -- away from me.
The other two cats stayed at my friend's house and were kind of skittish around me, so these aren't great pics. (And black cats are hard.)
For the sake of completeness, and to demonstrate that I've heard of the "macro" setting on my camera, here's Vinny:
One more of Spud:
And finally, one of Baldur, who was quite put out by Spud's visit but kept it down to growls and not physical engagement. (Perhaps that growl was "I could put you in your place, but that would be way too much effort".)

*laugh* I hadn't thought of that. I'll have to tell my friend about that. :-)
(Reminds me of a pet rabbit I once had. His name was Stuart, but that usually got abbreviated.)
