1. What is your SCA name? She'erah bat Shlomo.
2. What time and where do you portray? Cordova, mid 10th century. (The emir just promoted himself to caliph. Good thing we Jews can mostly just stay out of the way. :-) )
3. In plain English describe your device. She'erah wouldn't have had arms. There are arms still registered to my previous persona (who also wouldn't have had arms, but the local herald at the time was Very Pushy, and I was young and didn't know better), but I don't really use them.
4. How long have you been in the SCA? Since 1981.
5. Do you have any special titles you have earned? Mistress (Pelican and Laurel).
6. What kingdom and local group do you belong to? Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands in the Kingdom of AEthelmearc.
8. What is your war that you look forward to going to every year? Only Pennsic is worth the amount of trouble only Pennsic requires. (That's one of Silverwing's Laws, I think.)
9. Do you hold any offices? Not currently. In the past I have been local and kingdom chronicler (newsletter publisher).
10. Favorite memory from an event? My mind doesn't really run to "single favorite X", so I'll throw out one now and if you were to ask me tomorrow, I'm sure I'd throw out a completely different one. :-) One favorite was the year that a prominent Laurel declared that the Ice Dragon pent (huge arts-and-sciences competition) had gotten soft, so she was entering and dared anyone to beat her. When announcing the winners they counted up from third as usual, so somebody won third, and then she won second, and I said to myself "wow! someone beat her!". It turned out that the someone was me, which was fun, but the stronger memory is actually her getting called up for the second-place prize. She asked for it, right? :-)
Ok, just in writing that I thought of another. One year at War Practice (in May) it was freakishly cold, and Dani had pulled on a mundane sweater over his garb and under his cloak. As we sat down for court I said "I need you to do me two favors". The first was "don't ask", and the second was "lose the sweater". He kind of figured this meant he was getting an award, and later told me he was thinking "but I haven't really earned a Millrind (grant-level service award)". The writ for his Laurel took him completely by surprise. :-)
11. Are you a fighter? What kind? I used to fight heavy weapons. I preferred tournament fighting to meless, and my best form was polearm.
12. Are you crafty (making things)? Most of what I make is ephemeral -- music and food.
13. Do you teach classes at events? Sometimes.
14. Do you play instruments at events? I used to bring my hammer dulcimer to all events. Not so much these days, in part because I'm not spending the time building more repertoire and practicing it. And also because it's not as necessary now that there are more people showing up with instruments.
15. Do you dance at events? Yup, particularly if they're doing Ialian balli (fun!).
18. What is one of the reasons you've remained in the SCA? Friends. That's really the main one; if I were to move to someplace where I didn't already have friends in the SCA, I probably wouldn't invest the energy to start over. (Besides, if I were to move it would be because something really, really important was going on, and I imagine that -- whatever it is -- would be taking most of my attention.)
19. What peerage(s) do you aspire to? I have the ones I'd ever qualify for.
20. Who was Crown when you joined the SCA? Probably Aelfwine and Arastorm.
21. If you are a Peer, who was the Crown that elevated you? Balfar and Luna.
22. Have you lived in more than 1 kingdom and which ones? East and then AEthelmearc. I didn't move.
23. Have you helped found a group? Kingdom of AEthelmearc.
24. Have you had any house affiliations? My Pennsic camping group (not really a household) is Polyhymnia, and I'm also part of the highly-informal household of the Peacemakers (which manifests as occasional pot-luck dinners).
