Who thought it would be a good idea to put strobe lights on school buses? Fortunately we're past the time (until next fall) when I ever see them before dawn, but they're still annoying. Clue delivery: drivers are safest when our eyes are on the road, not when we're distracted by something wacky in the peripheral vision! And you're a bus, for crying out loud; you're way more visible than the cyclists.

There is a bookstore out in my neck of the woods that does the bookshelf/stair things, albeit only on the sides (who would want to buy a book lots of people have stepped on?). It is both cool and lame: cool because of the creative use of space, lame because it made the stairway narrow and people go up and down every few minutes.

The web design pie chart is almost right, but they forgot the time spent debating with superiors about how they really don't want it to look exactly like some "cool" site they found last night.

I agree that stepping on books would be bad. From the photos it looks like they've been careful to make that not happen.

This would be bad in a trafficked space like a store. In a loft in a too-small house, though, it makes sense to me.

I always wondered about the strobe lights and people with epilepsy. Isn't that a public health hazard or something?

Exactly what I was wondering. Epilepsy doesn't disqualify you from driving, so isn't this somewhere between risky and reckless?
