I'll never forget learning that particular phrase... in my ordinary (albeit private) elementary school when the rabbi of the major reform congregation in my neighborhood had been invited to talk to my third grade class about the Jewish holidays.
We won't mention how odd it was that I had to learn it there, and that I don't remember learning it at the J. Of course I also had to beg my parents to buy a menorah so...
