unusual galactic representation

Today's entry at Astronomy Picture of the Day introduced me to the Galaxy Garden, a detailed representation of our galaxy in foliage form (1 foot = 1000 light years). Nifty! It has some very nice touches, like the gravity well at the center. If I should ever find myself in Koma I want to go take a closer look.

Wow! I have to check this place out. Too bad it is only open Tuesday through Thursday (or by appointment) or I'd do a long weekend trip to Hawaii.

My favorite odd garden, by the way, is the topiary reproduction of Seurat's "Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grand Jatte" in Columbus, Ohio.

I so love APOD. And if I ever make it to Hawaii I must see that garden.
