daf bit: Chullin 130
Nov. 3rd, 2011 08:57 amThe mishna teaches: if an animal had a permanent physical blemish before it
was consecrated (for the temple), it can be worked and shorn and after it
has been redeemed, its young and milk are permitted. But if an animal
contracts a permanent physical blemish after being consecrated,
then it cannot be worked or shorn and even after it is redeemed its young
and milk are forbidden. (131a)
The rule seems to be that once an animal is dedicated to the temple you can't derive benefit from it unless the dedication would have been disqualified had somebody noticed the blemish. But there's a lot of g'mara and I don't understand it all.
