curse you, Firefox

A normal "save and exit" with no signs of things gone awry should not result in my saved tabs being gone on restart. Bah. I guess the lesson is to always bookmark all tabs first and clean it up later. What a stupid requirement.

I had several LJ entries open with intent to comment, but I don't know how I would reconstruct that state now. So I'm not ignoring you; I just don't know how to get that state back without doing a lot of digging, which I probably won't do.

Thanks for the reminder to finish up some of my tabs or bookmark them. That browser thing happens to me about once a year. It wasn't as annoying about Delicious deleting my account (after claiming they would not) but is still a frequent "argh!" moment.

I keep a bookmark for "News Chum"; I'd suggest something similar for "Tabs of Interest". Less visual clutter as well. Just drag to that bookmark and go back to it later, and then clear it out when you've posted it.

I *highly* recommend a Firefox add-on called Session Manager. It's pretty much bulletproof & does a terrific job of restoring your tabs after crashes, etc. You open it from your Tools menu & click a prominent button to recover your last session (I can't access the menu to see the precise wording without crashing first), or select another session to restore. It's saved my tabs -- & my sanity -- many a time.

Argh.

And then there's the obnoxious contribution LJ makes when Firefox does manage to restore your tabs -- all of the protected entries redirect to a "not logged in" page with no way to get back.
