daf bit: B'rachot 50

Before we eat anything we must say a blessing in praise of the Source of the food. What happens if you forget and start to eat? Rab Yehudah says if the food is still in your mouth, you shift it to one side and say the blessing. Another opinion (in a baraita) says you should swallow it, and yet another says you spit it out. How do we resolve the contradiction? The one who says to swallow is talking about liquids, and the one who says to spit it out is talking about food that will not be spoiled if you do that, but if the food would be spoiled, you move it to one side in your mouth. Why shouldn't he just move any food to one side, whether it would be spoiled or not? Because it says: my mouth shall be filled with Your praise. (50b-51a)
