modern dentistry

Out of curiosity, how long "should" a typical dental cleaning and check-up take these days for an adult with no special considerations? (I mean time in exam chair, not time in waiting room.) My visits got faster when my dentist's office switched (regretably IMO) from hand-scraping tartar to using an ultrasonic gizmo, but even so I was surprised by how quickly I got through a check-up on Monday and I lack other relevant data. Help plug my data gaps, LJ brain trust. :-)

20mins, give or take? I've just gotten back into the swing of regular dental care myself, so my last cleaning was a bit lengthy, but even that was less than half an hour. My dental care providers do still scrape by hand, or at least they did for me this time.

The cleaning itself is probably 20-30 minutes and my dentists office does it by hand. The exam is maybe 5 minutes, but there is also at least that much chitchat since my dentist (like me) is a traveller.
