brain trust: low-volume email forwarding?

Dear LJ brain trust,

What is the current wisdom about special-purpose email forwarding? I need an email address that is not my own main one, whose purpose in life is just to forward email to me (I don't need outbound anything), for which traffic will be very low and probably infrequent -- maybe a message every month or two, maybe less. Because of that last I don't want to set it up on some service where I have to go check the email, hence the forwarding. I could define a pobox alias (I already use pobox), but I'd prefer an extra degree of separation. I do not have my own domain name or mail server. Free is good; cheap is possible.

If you trust me, I will take care of this for you. Pure forwarding, no permanent storage unless you want me to archive it. Address will be @randomstring.org.

Should it still be an issue after dsrtao's kind offer (or for anyone else playing along at home): both gmail and outlook.com will do this for you. I am using both for this purpose, and the only thing is I think you have to log into outlook.com once every six months. I don't know if Yahoo does this too.

I don't know if it is suitable for this purpose, but apparently CMU does alumni mail forwarding forever.
