According to the mishna, the only difference between one who vowed not to benefit in any way from his neighbor and one who vowed not to benefit from his neighbor's food (apparently not an uncommon vow) is in walking over the other's property and using non-food-related utensils. If he vowed not to benefit from his neighbor's food he cannot borrow a sifter, sieve, millstone, or oven -- but he can borrow a shirt, a ring, a cloak, or earrings. The g'mara then raises other cases: what about riding his neighbor's horse in order to go to a banquet? But the g'mara does not here broaden the scope to such indirect benefits. (32b)
