honesty?

Once a year our company (along with its sister company) has a one-day "retreat". (I guess I'll find out what that means.) This year's is next Thursday starting at 8:30am on the wrong side of rush hour.

As part of a getting-to-know-each-other exercise, they've asked us to answer a couple of questions, one of which is "what would you do if you won the lottery?". I'm very tempted to say "assuming this is a big-ticket lottery and not the office pool on how long the air-conditioning will last, I'd declare that I no longer attend 8:30am meetings". But I probably won't. :-)

(I'm not really grumpy about the time, at least, assuming I can hitch a ride. It's unfortunate that it's on a day when I normally attend morning services, in the week of my grandfather's yahrzeit, though, but oh well. They get points for successfully dodging all of the fall holidays, some of which probably weren't on their radar. Most secular calendars mark Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, but I don't think I've ever seen Sukkot on one, for instance.)

I've reached the point where I need to either figure out how to get Partition Magic to cough up the gig of disk it's holding hostage or install another hard drive. I wonder which is easier. Possibly the latter, if I can sweet-talk Dani into doing the physical installation. (I don't see well enough to muck around inside these boxes without fear of breaking something.)

(For every machine I've owned, I've needed to upgrade disk space before anything else. Well, not counting the SCSI card that I just move when I buy a new machine. I'm still on my original 128mb of memory here, which is just fine for me at present.)
