cellio: (talmud)
Today's daf discusses who is and is not entitled to eat from various offerings. It discusses the case of the onen, a mourner whose deceased family member has not yet been buried. An onen is exempt from most (all?) ritual observances and, according to the mishna, may not bring animal offerings (even if he says he wants to) and does not eat from any that are brought. However, according to R. Jeremiah of Difti there is an exception for Pesach: he does eat of the lamb that evening, and because he eats from that one he may also eat from other animals brought during the festival even though he may not the rest of the year. (There is then a discussion of whether the laws of aneinut apply at night, so the matter is not necessarily settled.) (99b)
