As you may have noted, when I want something promoted, I put an explicit "canonical link"/"Link for Sharing" on it. Also, I cared enough (I discovered) about those sharing buttons at the bottom that I wrote a script from scratch to generate the HTML for ones for DW, because DW (unlike LJ) doesn't support them natively. People really do just punch the convenient button.
I am toying with the idea of moving to a model where I post actual posts at a domain of my own, and then post the link to my DW for discussion – or crosspost to DW (which, no, DW provides no way to do).
