And... I just discovered that "[domain name]/[DW-post-#].html" does not work, contrary to what I expected. That is, blog.cellio.org points to my DW journal just fine, but I can't push it down any further than that. I'll have to make redirects at my domain, which I've just made one of for a post that I link from SE and want to keep functional. (It was pointed at LJ; rather than updating to point to DW I made a canonical URL.) I won't bother doing that for most of my posts, but for special occasions I guess I'll do that. Your idea to provide an explicit canonical link in those cases is helpful, thanks!
