There were lots of people involved but it didn't feel like a collaborative effort. Good documentation requires a little more coordination than that, in my opinion.

I confess, this is why I've been a bit suspicious of the documentation project from the beginning. I haven't been much involved in it, but the few times I've looked into it seemed like solutions looking for problems -- they reminded me too much of the typical "FAQ" that is actually "here is what I want to talk about" with little thought given to what is actually useful to the reader...
