The good news is that there are a lot of UX folks writing articles to help explain this. Maybe find something I've, err, clapped-at, on Medium?

That being said I've had 0 luck trying to effect changes in design of Stack Exchange--having been met with indifference or frank hostility in the past--so good luck?
