Today when I came home the mom-bird wasn't in the nest, but as I approached my door she swooped in to monitor me.
She stood lookout until I went inside:

Wow, that straight-on view is STRANGE! Of course it's because robins, as prey birds, have their eyes on the sides of the head for maximum coverage.

It's strange, yes. It looks like she's glaring at me, except glaring usually calls for direct eye contact and she can't do that. I didn't expect to be able to get that shot. (The tail is blurry because it was in motion.)
