Google calendar can't grok holidays?
Nov. 13th, 2018 10:40 pmWhen I use the Google calendar in a browser on my desktop, I can see the two sets of holidays I've selected (US and Jewish) just fine. I used to see them on my Android phone, too. In September I noticed that it wasn't showing me Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot, but I was busy and didn't investigate. I don't remember if it showed me Labor Day.
I pretty much only need this information on phone when I'm out somewhere trying to schedule something a few months out. In other words, when I'm at a doctor's or dentist's office trying to schedule the next appointment.
I had a dentist appointment last week so this annoyance is fresh in my mind again. I found lots of trails from other people trying to solve this problem (DenverCoder9, what did you see??), but no working answers. And then, in poking around on my phone more, I saw that it does have an entry for Black Friday -- but not for Thanksgiving the day before. I didn't put that there, so it must be coming from the US calendar.
Where the heck are my holidays? Why is this hard, and what happened a few months ago to mess them up?

Date: 2018-11-15 03:36 am (UTC)The last Jewish holiday that showed up for me is Erev Tisha b'Av in July. I don't know if Google codes Tisha b'Av separately; if so I didn't get it. I've found no Jewish holidays later than that.
All of these work fine in the desktop view. The appearance of black Friday is especially mystifying; it tells me that *something* is still being tracked. And, indeed, both calendars are turned on and if I go back in time I see appropriate entries. I've toggled them off and on and synced repeatedly -- no change. I tried to update the app just in case that's the problem, but couldn't figure out how -- it shows on the phone as "Calendar" but there is no "Calendar" or "Google Calendar" in the list of apps or even widgets. I updated "Google" (which I think is just search), but that didn't change anything.
In my searches I found a thread on a Google forum about this and tried to click on the "add comment" (or whatever) link, but even though I'm signed in, clicking it didn't do anything. That's on the desktop, in Chrome, by the way. So I'm at a loss at this point, alas.
