Thanks for the info on XFCE. It reminds me of the fond memories I have of TWM on X-Windows back in the day. I remember it being very easy to customize.
Flare is Madcap Flare, basically an IDE for documentation. It does IDE-y things and mostly works fine, except that every now and then it demands all the memory and the fan whirs loudly and responsiveness goes to hell. I have no idea why. This is on a machine with 32GB of RAM and, usually, not much else taxing the system at the same time.
