I haven't seen those ads but I've described the remapping I have to do on every new computer that way. I, too, started with the control key there, and even if I wanted to use it where keyboards want to put it now, I just can't make my fingers bend that way for long enough to do things in Emacs. Control in the current default location is physically painful for me. I guess if you only use it occasionally and incidentally you can manage, but not for an essential key. (The command key, or Windows key on that OS, is also in a terrible place, but I don't use it as often. Launching new browser tabs on my Mac is a PITA but I've found no way to fix that.)
